The result of a survey made in 2010 by the security company SOPHOS shows, that the U.S. is still the leading country where the majority of spam emails are sent. The spam emails contain infected hidden links to dubious offers on websites. Germany is number six in the countries of the most active spammers, Austria is ranked at number 50 according to this study.

Most users do not notice the flood of various email trash. The reason is, that the web hosting providers are taking massive actions against spam to protect their customers from it. Almost 95% of the mail volume is unsolicited email.

An analysis of the mail traffic at emerion shows only 3% of the mails are delivered as OK, so “not spam”.

2.4 million emails were analyzed during the period of 4 days.
